Install Ava Copilot

One command downloads it. Then you turn it on in your browser, once. About two minutes, and no account.

Pick your way in

Step 1

Download it

macOS

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://ava.nexprove.com/install.sh | bash

Paste it into Terminal and press Return.

Linux

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://ava.nexprove.com/install.sh | bash

Paste it into a terminal. It needs curl.

Windows

Sneak peekinstall.ps1

A PowerShell installer exists (install.ps1) but has not been run on a real Windows machine yet. Until it is verified, install by hand: download the latest build, unzip it, and load the folder as below. Latest build, for a manual install.

What the command does. It downloads the latest build from this site and unpacks it into a folder on your computer. Browsers don’t let a script switch an extension on by itself, so the last step is yours.

Step 2

Turn it on in your browser

Do this once. Afterwards the extension starts with your browser.

Brave

brave://extensions

  1. Open brave://extensions in the address bar.
  2. Switch on Developer mode, at the top right.
  3. Click Load unpacked and choose the Ava Copilot folder.
  4. Pin it from the puzzle-piece menu, then click its icon to open the panel.

Chrome

chrome://extensions

  1. Open chrome://extensions in the address bar.
  2. Switch on Developer mode, at the top right.
  3. Click Load unpacked and choose the Ava Copilot folder.
  4. Pin it from the puzzle-piece menu, then click its icon to open the panel.

Edge

edge://extensions

  1. Open edge://extensions in the address bar.
  2. Switch on Developer mode, in the left column.
  3. Click Load unpacked and choose the Ava Copilot folder.
  4. Show it in the toolbar from the extensions menu, then click its icon to open the panel.

In the panel, add a model: a key for a cloud provider, or Ollama or LM Studio running on your computer. Then ask it for something small, like “summarise this page”.

After

You will know when there is an update

Extensions loaded this way can’t update themselves, so the extension tells you instead. Nothing to sign up for.

Update availableVersion 0.2.2
  • Ambient listening: Listen mode and off the record
  • Update notices for every new version

Run this, then reload:

curl -fsSL https://ava.nexprove.com/install.sh | bash
  • In the panel

It checks this site twice a day. When a new version is out, a banner shows what changed, with the update command and a Reload button.

  • A desktop notification

One per new version, even with the panel closed. Never a second one for the same version.

  • On the toolbar

The icon’s tooltip says an update is waiting until you install it.

  • A release feed

Prefer to hear elsewhere? Follow the RSS feed in a reader, Slack or your email.

Release feed (RSS) A Chrome Web Store listing is planned; then updates will arrive by themselves.

Later

Update or remove it

Update

Run the same command again. Then press the reload arrow on the extension’s card in your browser’s extensions page.

Your chats, notes and settings stay. They live in the browser, not in the folder, and the extension keeps its ID across builds.

Remove

Click Remove on the extension’s card. That also deletes everything it stored: chats, memory, settings and keys.

Then delete its folder, or let the script do it:

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://ava.nexprove.com/install.sh | bash -s -- --uninstall

Optional

Local voices and Ava Brain

Optional

Local voices

Voices and speech recognition that run on your computer, for free: KittenTTS to speak and Moonshine to listen, about 60 MB together. Kokoro and Whisper are there if you want more.

Nothing to do: the first time you talk, dictate or turn on “Hey Ava”, the panel offers to download what that needs, once, checked against pinned checksums. Settings › Voice engines shows each model and downloads the others.

To have them in place before the first run (offline use), add one option to the install command. It needs Node.js; then reload the extension.

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://ava.nexprove.com/install.sh | bash -s -- --with-voices

Ava Brain

A small companion that runs on your Mac and does what a browser extension can’t. Ava Copilot works fully without it.

What it adds

  • Runs code for your routines in a Docker sandbox: no network unless you allow it, limits on CPU, memory and time, and only its own folder.
  • Builds small pages and tools, and shows them in Avi Studio.
  • Listens only on this Mac, at 127.0.0.1, and pairs with your browser through a one-time code.

What it needs

  • macOS
  • Docker Desktop, OrbStack or Colima
  • Node 24 or newer

Its installer is not public yet; it will be one command, like this page’s. Then you open Settings › Ava Brain in the panel, enter the port and the code, and pair.
